Hurricane Relief: How You Can Pitch In and Help!

In the past few weeks Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton have ravaged communities in the Southeastern United States. High winds, rain, flooding and tornadoes spawned by the storms have cost over 68 Billion dollars in damages. Lives have been lost. Homes and businesses have been destroyed, and millions of people have been displaced or injured. One day, people were having happy, normal lives and the next they stood looking at their homes and communities which had been decimated by the storms.

How do you prepare for something like that?

More and more, people are trying to do things to prepare for such emergencies and that’s a great idea. Our principle mission here are HomeGrown Herbalist and Homestead Academy is to provide educational resources so that people can have the knowledge they need to be able to get through life’s unexpected disasters. Our prayers are with those struggling because of these storms. I hope that others will also do what they can to help with relief efforts. I also hope that we will all take a good hard look at our priorities . I hope they will emphasize the importance of our faith, our families and our friends.

If and when that moment comes, the number of likes we got on our most recent social media post won’t matter a whit. The number of hours we’ve binged on re-runs will be of little value. Let’s focus our time and energies on gaining knowledge and skills that can be a blessing to others. Let’s emphasize quality time with our loved ones. Let’s make loving and serving others our highest priority.

I really believe that to the degree that we do that, the world will be a much better place.
