Our tincture is made from our own Pinus resinosa needles (Red Pine). White pine and other species of the Pinus genus have similar properties.
History and Folklore:
Native Americans used pine historically for coughs and to treat and prevent respiratory illness. They also used the needles for allergies and urinary tract and sinus infections. They used the inner bark or the needles. They also used the inner bark topically as a wound poultice or for skin infections. They also used it topically to lessen joint inflammation in arthritic conditions.
Cultivation and Harvest:
Pine needles can be harvested any time of year.
Don’t take pine during pregnancy or while breast feeding. Prolonged use can sometimes be irritating to the kidneys.
