Essential oil applications
People use this essential oil in a variety of ways. So far as we know, none of these applications have been verified or approved by the FDA. Some of its most frequent applications are:
- To relieve fatigue and mental exhaustion , use 2-3 drops in a diffuser to enjoy its benefits.
- For respiratory support , use 2-3 drops in a steam inhalation. It can also be used in a diffuser.
- To support the lungs during cold and flu season, use 2-3 drops in a diffuser.
- To support, soothe and relax muscles and joints, use 3-4 drops in 1 tsp of carrier oil and massage into the body or affected areas.
- To support the digestive system, mix 2-3 drops of peppermint oil in a carrier oil and massage your back. It can also be used in a compress
- To support fainting or dizziness use 2-3 drops on a tissue and inhale periodically. It can also be used in a diffuser.
- To support a fever, use 2-3 drops in a cold compress.
- To support headaches and migraines , use 2-3 drops in a diffuser.
- To support nausea, use 2-3 drops in a diffuser. You can also place a couple of drops on a tissue and inhale periodically.
- To support a sunburn, add 2-3 drops in 2 tablespoons of lanolin. Apply to the affected area. You can also use a cold compress or in a carrier oil.
Peppermint essential oil blends well with basil, eucalyptus, geranium, grapefruit, juniper, lavender, lemon, myrrh, pine, rosemary, tea tree, and wintergreen oils.
The essential oil extraction method is steam distillation. The parts used are the leaves and flowers of the plant.
Safety information
Avoid essential oil if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use the oil on babies or young children. Due to its properties, peppermint oil can cause irritation to sensitive skin, however, it is rare. Test a small amount before applying in large amounts. Do not use in bathrooms. It should not be used in combination with homeopathic remedies.
