Organic Lime Essential Oil 10 ml
Lime essential oil comes from Citrus aurantifolia of the Rutaceae family of plants. The tree is evergreen, short and bushy, grows between 2 and 4 meters high, it is much smaller than the orange or grapefruit tree. It has dark green leaves, white flowers, and green oval fruits. There are two main types of lime trees: the Mexican lime (key lime) and the Tahitian lime (Persian lime).
The lime is indigenous to Southeast Asia, then spread to Egypt and Africa. The Moors also introduced lime to Spain during the 13th century and it became a widely used fruit throughout Europe before reaching the American shores. Today, the largest lime producer is India, followed by Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and Spain.

Lime oil has a strong citrus fragrance and is pale olive or light yellow in color depending on how it was produced. Although it is traditionally used as a flavoring agent in foods, due to its incredible properties, there are other well-known applications of the oil.
This oil has been used extensively in the food and beverage industry, as well as in the manufacturing of fragrances. It is a versatile citrus oil, and is commonly added to cleaning products, detergents, soaps and other beauty products.
You can also get benefits by using the oil in aromatherapy, as it is stimulating and refreshing. Its rich content in vitamin C makes it an ideal supporter of your immune system.
There are multiple ways to use the oil:
- You can relieve stress, and energize your soul, or calm your mind by diffusing a few drops with a vaporizer. This also helps support the immune system, especially after illness. You can also add a few drops of the oil to a carrier oil and add to the bath water.
- To support yourself during times of cold:  add a few drops to a cooking container of water and inhale its steam. You can also mix a few drops with a carrier oil, then rub it on your neck and chest.
- If you have stiff hands or knees: Â put two or three drops in a carrier oil and massage the area.
- To help with skin blemishes: Â Mix two drops with jojoba oil and apply to the skin. It will help you eliminate impurities by promoting the growth of new skin cells.

Composition
Like lemons, the lime is packed with antioxidants and other beneficial nutrients. Lime essential oil is loaded with terpenic hydrocarbons, such as a-pinene, b-pinene, d-pinene, camphene, sabinene, and terponolene. It also contains oxygenated compounds such as a-terpineol, linalool, and fenchol. It also contains traces of neral acetate and geranyl acetate.
Germacrene B, is an important element in its fragrance. It gives it a woody and zippy touch that distinguishes it from lemon oil.
Is it a safe oil?
It is not toxic or irritating , but this does not mean that you should use it recklessly. We recommend doing a test to see if you have any sensitivity to oil. Just apply one or two drops to your skin to see if an allergic reaction develops.
It is not advisable to use this oil undiluted , as it can be very concentrated. It is best to mix it with a milder oil, such as coconut oil or olive oil. Lime oil also pairs well with lavender or neroli.
As with all essential oils, you should consult your doctor about the appropriate dose for you.
Oil side effects
Citrus essential oils are photosensitive and react to light. If you use the oil on your skin, avoid immediately exposing yourself to sunlight as an adverse reaction could appear. We recommend waiting 6 to 24 hours before exposing your skin to the sun.
Safety
Avoid essential oil during pregnancy or lactation. Do not use as with diagnosis of hypertension or epilepsy. Always use diluted with another carrier oil. Avoid if you are taking homeopathic remedies, as eucalyptus acts as an antidote to those therapies.
