HISTORY OF LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL
Lavender has a rich history as a medicinal plant. In recent years it has also been used for aromatherapy.
Aromatherapy as a therapeutic practice did not appear until the beginning of the 20th century. In the 1930s, René Gattefossé, a prominent perfumer at the time, suffered severe burns to his hand due to an accident in his perfume laboratory. Immediately, and without thinking, he dipped his hand into a container containing lavender oil and saw how the pain subsided. He reported that the burn did not develop any infection and he claimed the burn healed cleanly and quickly.
