Tis The Season to Be…Sick. Understanding Herbal Interventions For Respiratory Illnesses.

As we gear up for the holidays, we spend a lot of time and money shopping for presents and stocking stuffers for the folks we love. We put out decorations; wreaths on the door, trees in the living room, and tinsel everywhere. We do all of these things so that we can be ready for the holidays.

But in addition to getting ready for the parties and activities of the holiday season, it seems to me that we might do well to get ready for the other season that accompanies these winter festivities…the cold, flu, and corona season.

♪ Tis the season to be jolly! Falalalala…lala…lala!

All the kids are sick by golly! Falalalala…lala…lala!

They won’t wear their warm apparel! Falalalalala…lalalala!

Give them herbs to stave the peril! Falalalala…lala…lala!

So, how do we prepare ourselves for the cold, flu and corona season? Glad you asked!

First, we would do well to have a basic understanding of our bodies, especially our respiratory and immune systems. Understanding how our bodies work and what the various systems are trying to accomplish helps to guide us in our efforts to help the body do what it was designed to do more effectively.

Second, we should learn a little about how bacteria and viruses operate; how they spread, how they affect our organs and tissues, and what our body does in response to those actions.

Third, we should have some understanding of how herbs function in stimulating immunity, opening the airways, removing excess mucus, and killing or inhibiting the replication of disease organisms.

Finally, we should have some herbs on hand so that they can be employed as early as possible in the disease process. Placing an order for herbs when you’re already sick and waiting several days for the nice mailman to bring them to you isn’t the ideal scenario. It’s much better to have some things on hand.

To help you meet these goals, I’d like to offer you two opportunities. The first is to purchase one of our amazing Respiratory Preparedness kits for you and your family. These kits offer eight different formulas specifically designed to support your body’s efforts to fight illness and heal itself. If you go to the product page, you’ll also see a link with complete instructions on how I use the kit in my own family. You can learn more about the kit here:

The other offering is something I’ve never done before. This Saturday, I’ll be conducting a live online Respiratory Master’s Seminar. The presentation will be delivered via a private YouTube link. As a participant, you will be able to actively participate with questions throughout the program. You will also have access to a recording of the class afterward. Enrolled students in The HomeGrown Herbalist School will have free access to the program and non-students will be able to attend as well at a fraction of the cost of the traditional, in-person event. Plus you won’t have to pay for gas or hotel rooms and you can watch it all at home in your pajamas! What could be bad?

I’m doing this first online event as an experiment. If it is well attended, I’ll be doing many more of them in the future.

I LOVE your humor, your knowledge and your kindness!
I have been there: need that now! I had the herbs but needed to make a slave on the fly, no bee’s wax…. Good thing I can compromise and substitute, good thing now my tinctures and vinegars and dried herbs are in! Bee pollen, extra vitamin C , foot bath, no herb we can do essential oil, and every year I add more herbs to the garden – partly thanks to you!
Update on the teasel I ordered for my daughter (you also recommended the bowel program… she changed her diet drastically after her diagnosis, no bowel problems though I wonder if it does not go back to her DPT shot back when I caved and she had horrible reactions) any way, she is feeling well on the teasel and some other thing she is taking. Which one is the “magic”? She said once the bottle is empty she will take a break, then we shall see.
Peace and Joy to you, dear Doc!

    I totally sang that! :0)

I hope to make the live presentation. If I don’t and I’m already a member of the school, will I be able to watch later? Thanks for all you do, Doc!

I am not a student in the school, but I did pay for the online seminar. I was unable to attend so will I have access to the recorded event?

    • Dr. Patrick Jones says:

The tincture is in stock. The powder will be in stock in the next day or two. We’ve been moving the production facility this week so we’re a bit behind on herb grinding…and grinding Brigham tea is a special adventure. LOL
